The Challenge
For Chelsea, achieving excellence wasn’t just about compliance—it was about creating a strong, united team where every member shared the same high standards and a passion for growth. With this vision in mind, she knew that providing ongoing development opportunities and ensuring her team remained engaged with training would be key.
The Solution
Chelsea met Sangita, Alium Care Training’s owner, at an event and kept in touch to discuss training opportunities. After several meetings, Sangita and Chelsea identified the specific training that Wolfe House’s team needed.
One of Alium’s experienced trainers conducted a mock CQC inspection at Wolfe House, which helped Chelsea gain valuable insights into what the home was doing well and areas for improvement. This gave her confidence in Alium’s approach and in the effectiveness of the training before committing.
Wolfe House then enrolled in several of Alium’s Fully Funded Skills for Care developed courses, including:
- 3 CPD Modules
- Well-Led
- Lead to Succeed
Chelsea and her Care Coordinator were the first to take part, followed by three other staff members. Although some were initially hesitant, once they Alium ways of delivering the training, they became enthusiastic and positive about applying what they had learned.
The Experience
Chelsea praised the quality of Alium’s trainers, saying:
“The trainers are knowledgeable, helpful, and proactive in ensuring everyone on the course is engaging with the content.”
She particularly highlighted the effectiveness of the virtual training format, which exceeded her expectations:
“I had always done in-person training and didn’t believe virtual training could be as good. But Alium’s trainers changed my mind—it’s been just as effective as in-person courses.”
The virtual sessions included breakout rooms where participants could exchange ideas with others in the sector. Chelsea found Alium’s interactive approach to be invaluable, giving her team real-world insights and practical solutions.
The Outcome
The training has already begun to transform Wolfe House’s operations:
- Improved Time Management: Staff are more effective and efficient in their day-to-day tasks.
- Better Team Dynamics: The team is working more cohesively, creating a stronger sense of collaboration.
- Enhanced Teamwork: Communication and cooperation have significantly improved across all roles.
“It’s really changing the way we work,” says Chelsea.
Looking Ahead
Chelsea plans to extend the training to the full team of carers and supervisors, ensuring that everyone has the same knowledge and skillset as the leadership team. Wolfe House also plans to book more in-person mandatory training sessions with Alium.
A Recommendation from Wolfe House
“I would absolutely, hands down fully recommend Alium Care Training to anyone in the adult care sector.”
By partnering with Alium, Wolfe House Care Home is well on its way to achieving its goal of Outstanding service delivery and fostering a culture of continuous development.
