Course Content 

This course looks at what is a learning disability, how to care for children and young people with a learning disability and the support carers may need. 

 

The course covers: 

 

  • What is meant by the term learning disability 

  • Understanding what the world like for older children and young people who are living with a learning disability 

  • Why stress and frustration can overwhelm children and young people who are living with a learning disability 

  • How to prevent stress and frustration overwhelming children and young people who are living with a learning disability 

  • How to help children and young people who are living with a learning disability when overwhelmed by stress and frustration. 

  • Other unmet needs children and young people who are living with a learning disability may experience 

  • What support foster parents and carers may need

Assessment: Ongoing observation and end of session activity. Each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
