Course Content
The aim of this course is to enable delegates to understand and be able to apply into the workplace, the legislative requirements. . It ensures that delegates fully understand and are able to apply the 5 principles of the Act into their day to day working practices in supporting residents. As well as this, it explores implications of the Mental Capacity and Liberties Protection Safeguards (previously DoLs) and the legal requirements of the Act
It covers the following:
Outcomes:
- Understand the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act and Liberties Protection Safeguards (previously DoLs)
- How to apply the 5 principles of Mental Capacity Act to provide person centred care and support in line with the requirements of the Care Act
- How to obtain consent in people who lack capacity
- Understand the concept of best interest
- How the Liberties Protection Safeguards (previously DoLs) may apply to people supported
- Know where to go for further information
- The role of reflective practice to improve outcomes of intervention

Duration: 1 Day or a 3 hour refresher (please note the qualification requirement)

Assessment: Ongoing observation and end of session Activity. Each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
