Description

Course Content

The course provides an understanding of the various conditions that services users live with, how these manifest themselves and how to best support them.

It also looks specifically at:
• Learning disability definition
• The types of learning disabilities and their potential causes;
• The diagnosis of these conditions;
• The legislative requirements which apply to the support of those who live with a disability;
• Understanding the key day to day issues facing people with learning disabilities and how best to support them and their families;
• Communication and person-centred thinking in supporting service users who live with a learning disability;
• Increasing delegate confidence in their support role, role by gaining a better understanding of the condition and its impact
• Learning from experience – reflective practice

Assessment:  Ongoing observation and end of session Activity. Each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
