Description

This 2 day Train the Trainer Basic Life Support Course is for those who have not completed the 2-day Train the Trainer course. The course covers the topic content, as well as the full trainer element including mini teach sessions for the topic. Delegates will cover the topic content and learn how to deliver this topic from a training perspective, where they will be shown best practice and supported to create their own lesson plan as well as some of the resources required for their own session delivery.

The course provides delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to become an effective Trainer in this subject and ensures that the delivery of a Basic Life support course is effective and impactful so staff fully understand and know how to apply their learnings into working practices. It also explains how to maintain Trainers own CPD requirements.

Requirements: 

All delegates enrolling on this course, are required to have prior experience in the topic content e.g Basic Life Support. Please ensure delegates have sufficient space to perform CPR, the recovery position & treatment for choking. Delegates will need to have access to a CPR doll/dummy, to have their competency assessed, as part of this course.

This Course Covers:

  • Introduction to Basic Life Support
  • Legal requirements, regulations, guidance and policy. The Care certificate and UK resuscitation council guidance.
  • The Primary and Secondary Surveys
  • The Recovery Position and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Responding to Emergency Situations - Including Choking, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Stroke
  • Consolidate understanding by using case scenario responses
  • Demonstrate practical skills in carrying out CPR – CPR, Recovery position and choking.

Train the Trainer Elements

  • Explore ways to encourage delegates to effectively learn, retain and apply topic-based information in a confident and empowering way
  • Learning Styles and how to teach by utilising each style to meet learner needs and stretch delegates to learn from a variety of styles
  • Embedding literacy and numeracy into the topic content at level 2
  • Assessment techniques to ensure delegate understanding of the topic content
  • Ways to evaluate effectiveness of own delivery of the topic at induction level and maintaining CPD requirements
  • Key to becoming an excellent trainer and the role of reflective practice

Handouts

Delegates will be provided with key pieces of information and asked to take notes so as to encourage and enable them to modify/create their own bespoke session based on their audience needs and learning styles. They will be supported throughout the session to do this.

Assessment

Each delegate will complete a competence assessment during the session. Anyone requesting the competence assessment to be completed outside of the course booking dates will be charged £35.00.

On successful completion of the assessment, the certificate will be issued. Dates for the assessment are on a mutually agreed basis.
