Description

This course provides delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to carry out Moving and Positioning assessments, by firstly gaining the knowledge on the topic they will assess (Moving and Positioning at level 3). It supports delegates to understand the assessment process and how to confidently apply these into their working practices, ensuring that carers are fully assessed and mentored to deliver compliance of this task within the community, providing quality and consistent approach to customer care

  • Definition of moving and positioning 
  • Legislative requirements 
  • Importance of compliance to company policies and procedures 
  • Responsibilities of employers and employees, including duty of care 
  • Principles of safer handling and moving and transferring 
  • How to carry out risk assessments 
  • types and use of appropriate equipment including safety checks 
  • Anatomy and appropriate posture when moving and positioning Customers 
  • Techniques to avoid injury and strain 
  • Controversial moves

To support impact on outcomes of learning, all delegates are supported to create a clear action plan to support application of learning.

 

Handouts

Delegates will be provided with key pieces of information and asked to take notes so as to encourage and enable them to gain a deeper understanding of how they will conduct the assessment, based on their audience's needs and learning styles. They will be supported throughout the session to do this.

Assessment

Assessment during the session. Anyone requesting the competence assessment to be completed outside of the course booking dates will be charges £35.00.

Course Validation

All Train the Trainer course certificates are valid for a year, and can be topped up with a refresher course annually.
