Description

This course provides delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to carry medication administration and assessments, by firstly gaining the knowledge on the topic they will assess (Medication administration at level 3).  It supports delegates to understand the assessment process and how to confidently apply these into their working practices, ensuring that carers are fully assessed and mentored to deliver compliance of this task within the community, providing quality and consistent approach to customer care. The content can be modified to meet organisations specific policies if a closed course is requested.

 

Course content

  • Recognising the different types of medication
  • Know the relevant legislation and regulatory compliance relating to the use, storage, safe disposal and administration of medication.
  • Importance of following company policies and procedures
  • Following SAFE hygiene practices
  • Describe the importance of accurate, timely completion of all documentation including the Medication Administration Records (MAR) Charts to include near misses’ errors and refusals
  • Know the confidentiality requirements under GDPR.

To support impact on outcomes of learning, all delegates are supported to create a clear action plan to support application of learning. 

Handouts

Delegates will be provided with key pieces of information and asked to take notes so as to encourage and enable them to gain a deeper understanding of how they will conduct the assessment, based on their audience's needs and learning styles. They will be supported throughout the session to do this.

Assessment

Each delegate will complete a competence assessment during the session. Anyone requesting the competence assessment to be completed outside of the course booking dates will be charged £35.00.
