This 2 day Train the Trainer Medication Administration Course is for those who have not completed the 2-day Train the Trainer course (either through Bluebird Care or Alium). The course covers the topic content, as well as the full trainer element including mini teach sessions for the topic. Delegates will cover the topic content and learn how to deliver this topic from a training perspective, where they will be shown best practice and supported to create their own lesson plan as well as some of the resources required for their own session delivery.

The course provides delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to become an effective Trainer in this subject and ensures that the delivery of a Medication Administration course is effective and impactful so staff fully understand and know how to apply their learnings into working practices. It also explains how to maintain Trainers own CPD requirements.

Requirements:

All delegates enrolling on this course, are required to have prior experience in the topic content e.g Medication Administration.

This Course Covers:

• Recognising the different types of medication
• Know the relevant legislation and Regulatory compliance relating to the use, storage, safe disposal and administration of medication.
• Importance of following company policies and procedures
• Following SAFE hygiene practices
• Describe the importance of accurate, timely completion of all documentation including the Medication Administration Records (MAR) Charts to include near misses’ errors and refusals
• know the confidentiality requirements under GDPR.

Train the Trainer Elements

• Explore ways to encourage delegates to effectively learn, retain and apply topic-based information in a confident and empowering way
• Learning Styles and how to teach by utilising each style to meet learner needs and stretch delegates to learn from a variety of styles
• Embedding literacy and numeracy into the topic content at level 2
• Assessment techniques to ensure delegate understanding of the topic content
• Ways to evaluate effectiveness of own delivery of the topic at induction level and maintaining CPD requirements.
• Key to becoming an excellent trainer and the role of reflective practice

Handouts

Delegates will be provided with key pieces of information and asked to take notes so as to encourage and enable them to modify/create their own bespoke session based on their audience needs and learning styles. They will be supported throughout the session to do this.

This 1 day (Refresher) Train the Trainer Medication Administration Course is for those who have previously completed the full 2-day Train the Trainer course (either through Bluebird Care or Alium). It covers the topic element and supports delegates to refresh, validate and learn something new in relation to the training element based on their previous experiences.

The course covers and refreshing knowledge skills and understanding of the:

• Different types of medication
• Update on the relevant legislative requirements of the use, storage, safe disposal and administration of medication.
• Review practices against current company policies including the SAFE hygiene practices
• Reflect on the importance of timely and accurate recording and reporting processes and the use of appropriate documentation including adherence to confidentiality requirements under GDPR

Train the Trainer Elements

• Reflect on how to encourage delegates to effectively learn, retain and apply the topic -based information so that delegates feel confident and empowered.
• Review and refresh knowledge and understanding of the variety of learning styles and their applications
• Review the inclusion of literacy and numeracy into the topic content at level 2 and ways to better embed these requirements.
• Reflect on the current practices of assessment and evaluation to enhance ways to ensure delivery meets delegate needs and that its impactful and effective against outcomes
• Build and enhance Trainers own skills through CPD activities
